I have a black metal futon frame and I be wondering how much I should sell it for. When I bought it it be about $400 near the mattress so I'm not sure how much the frame itself would cost.
you would be best stale just to furnish it away the mattress is the costly part

I did mull over before I answered. You asked and that is to say the only approach I know of how to determined the cost.
What are you going to do, call a furniture company and ask them? They will probably simply give you an estimate lacking even seeing it and what you might hear, may not be what you want to hear. They may tell you $50.00

Sorry I wouldn't make available a lot for it and next have to be in motion out and get a mattress when I can catch the frame and mattress for 249.
And mattress only will run anywher from 149 to 279.
But after I don't know what kind of frame you hold it may be a lot better looking consequently the one I would get for 249 next to the mattress.
The trick/hard part is finding someone that desires a frame.
