I'm trying to find a crib and am looking for a dark color wood but don't won't black. It looks similar to the colors just changeover all the time though. One minute it looks similar to its the cherry i want then the subsequent the cherry looks red and seems resembling its the espresso. Then it changes and the espresso looks black instead of brown. Can anybody update me what color espresso and cherry actually is? Would in that be different shades?
Answers:    Both espresso and cherry are overcast colors, but cherry is a dark red, while espresso is a unbelievably dark brown (nearly black).

If you're looking for a murky color that is neither too black-looking nor too rosy, you might want to look for mahogany.

Mahogany is also a dark brown, but short the reddish tone of the cherry, and not so bleak as to appear black (as espresso does).

Mahogany is not a popular finish, however, so you may have more trouble finding it. Cherry and espresso are both popular.
I contemplate cherry. It is a timeless wood shade. Espresso might end up one like that murky woo of the 80's. Here's a link to some cherry and espresso. Chery can enjoy more of a red while the espresso can go any black or brown/black. Good luck!
