I have curtains that I bought from Ikea. They are a severely pale naturaul color. I come up with of Hemp when I see them. I want to dye them a deep red. Kind of approaching maroon. I looked at some of the rit dyes but I simply saw Scarlet red wich is too bright for me. Any ideas?
Answers: First of adjectives, what are the curtains made of? There are different dyes and results will be different for respectively. Are they cotton or are they synthetic? If cotton, the Rit dye will work, but it doesn't give it really vibrant deep rich color within a off the shelf dye. If you mix red and black you will bring back a marroon color. As to how much, you will have to experiment tallying a bit of black at a time. Now I will tell you that blacks are not adjectives the same. Some are a blue black and consequently there are blacks that enjoy a green cast to it. It also usually cart 2 times or more as much black than any other color per lb. of fabric to return with the shade you want. If you would like professional results, afterwards I go to Dharma dyes or purchasing from Pro Chem that you can buy on strip, but they do take some precaution to use and you will obligation to use soda ash as a mordant and salt that is to say uniodized. I can talk you through the steps if you want to use these types of dyes. If your curtains own cotton plus other fibers, it will not achieve it's deepest colors that you want. If they are adjectives synthetic, these dyes will not take at adjectives and you will have to resort to Disperse Dyes and the process would tight boiling the fabric near these dyes for a solid shade. Again you are talking of useing professional products.
