I am getting my carpet and my tile countertops laid by indistinguishable local company, and they gave me a great bid on my hearth rug. However, it seems close to the tile countertops bid is way too soaring. I have 50 square foot of countertop space, which is 1 kitchen countertop, kitchen island, and a bathroom countertop. The total cost with removal and disposal, plywood and hardyboard placed for the surface, and the tiles and the labor is 2700$. This is surrounded by Texas. I added it up and thats like 54$ per square foot. Does this estimate appear like they are trying to rip me past its sell-by date?
The tiles are 6X6 and they are 2.95$ a piece, and the decorative fund accent is 12.95$ per piece and I necessitate 30 of those.
I can't believe that 50 feet of tile countertops cost more afterwards replacing the carpet throughout the complete house, but I'm not into the construction field so I really don't know.
Thanks much!
Answers: Well 50 @ 5.90= 295.00
30 @ = 388.50
2 plywood @ 25.00 = 50.00
2 Hardboard @ 35.00 ? = 70.00
That is 800.00 not counting mortar and grout.
Rip out sink and disconnect plumbing. Lay tile and reconnect everything. Then draw away and clean up. The profession will take at lowest possible two days. It might be a hair giant, but I don't think you are anyone raped or anything like that. How long would it purloin you to do it is what you might want to ask yourself. You would probably be without a kitchen for a week. I 've see regular counter top at HD and Lowe's for $55-60.00 sq ft. If you still think it is too illustrious get another bid...that never hurts. :-)
OOPS! Meyer is right ...I forgot the wife of the tile. That's what I get for trying to do math after a turkey dinner.
A virtuous tile person get paid more afterwards a carpenter or tile layer where on earth I live, and they are in more constraint.
