Does red and brown walls run okay together? Okay this is a question for adjectives you who like to paint...

Okay this is a question for adjectives you who like to paint and titivate. A fellow co-worker is wanting to paint the walls of his family room. His furniture is a wishy-washy brown and his carpet is a tanish color, his curtains are brown and sunburn. The wall that the curtains would be on he wants to paint chocolate brown and like peas in a pod color on the wall directly across ffrom that wall. Then he wants to paint the other two walls a philosophical red. My question is will the brown and red mesh together in good health? I was thinking he should travel with red and a suntan color rather than chocolate brown, because he for sure requests the two walls to be the deep red color. Any recommend or anyone who has used a similar color structure with tips would be appreciated!@!
