I want to paint my baseboards and cabinets a different shade of white than they are immediately. Do I need to prime it? If I do enjoy to prime it, does it matter if they are latex or enamel and I want to put enamel?
Answers:    If already painted in that is no need to prime. As a nonspecific rule you do not use oil base enamel over latex. You can use latex over oil base enamel.
No need to prime, but you do enjoy to sand. Any new coat wishes a rough surface to adhere. Most cupboards are any poly coated or gloss paint. Sand very well, remove dust, and paint.
