This is kind of broad.. but i need some decorate ideas.. I don't want to paint and all the walls are an past its sell-by date white.. but i need a way to spice it up a bit.. our kitchen-older style, shadowy cabinets- newer appliences...speckled gold on white counter tops. large kitchen dining room w/ sliding chalice doors to the back porch. our living room is pretty basic white walls, sunburn furniture (newer) and a t.v, a lamp and some pictures.. thats it.. its so boreing in here and when our family circle and friends visit i want them to be like wow, its cute. i'm have no luck.. if anyone has any idea.s. i'd LOVE them..appreciation.
For the kitchen walls, I would buy 3 black shelves (Ledges) of different length. May be from stores like Target. ( budget $20) Get some plates which are colorful (may be with a Mexican accent) and can be displayed on the sill. (budget $10) Shop for this at a Good will store as they have old exclusive stuff, which have a character.You may also display some salt and pepper shakers surrounded by different shapes, for example, I have a pepper and salt shaker within the shape of a hat and boots. It will attract peoples attention. On the dining table you can have a fruit bowl near different colored fruits to invite color in your kitchen.
Coming to the living room, I would go near some wall prints which you get in Italicized lettering approaching "family" or some saying phrase like " adjectives because two people fell in love", or some symbol which appeals to you right on the wall. It will look severely nice. It is available in Lowe's or Home depot all you own to do is stencil it on to the wall with a bright color like browns or reds. Use matching color throw pillows on your couch. You can put your pictures on the other wall. Have a clock on one wall. Leave one wall empty as it will create a sense of balance and will avoid ocular clutter.
The golden rule is " less in more" and "invite colors" do not hold a " war of colors" in a given nouns. Hope this helps.

I once sponged my kitchen walls to look close to the old walls in Tuscany - a pale sunny yellow with a browny gold ingots glaze gently sponged on top. I added a scroll border at the top and hung some brightly colored plates I bought at World Market. I LOVED that kitchen. It be warm and inviting and made it lively. No one noticed the antediluvian brown cabinets or white formica counters. The most expensive thing be the wallpaper border. If I had learned to stencil later, I could have done the whole entity for under $100.00 including placemats and napkins.
Once you paint the kitchen, use a complementary color on the dining area or use one and the same color as the kitchen as an accent in the drapes, table cloth, etc. Paint the wall where on earth you have your sideboard the same as the kitchen.
In the living room, cover your toss pillows surrounded by some interesting color saturated fabric. Use some of the colors contained by accent pieces like three cup items on the coffee table. What kind of lamp do you hold? What can you do to it to make it interesting? Do you really only enjoy 1 lamp? Go to the Salvation Army and find some more. Paint them, sponge them, spray them, do something to add some pizzazz.
With white walls and suntan furniture, you sound like you're afraid to whip chances. Look back at those pictures and bring some of that style to your home. Surf the decorate websites for more ideas. Start small and don't be afraid.
