I live in a small townhouse. My living room is incredibly small with a "L" shape that flows surrounded by to my dining space...my sofa and love seat are both sage green contained by a "v" shape layout facing my entertainment stand and windows. I hold 2 end table on either side of the entertainment stand. I own a darker grey/brownish wall color. My curtains are black sheer, and my runner is a creamy beige color, and my furnishings (entertainment stand, and ruin tables) are all bleak hard wood. I dont own a inspiration piece for this room, or much to accent beside...just kinda threw the room together. I want it to own some kind of style...or look to verbs it all together because it feel like its missing something. i involve some ideas for articulation colors, or different curtains mabie??...It is the main room surrounded by my home, and I want to be proud of it. Do I have too much going on, or can it work? Im up for some change, Please help!! p.s. i dont hold a digital camera, so i cant put pics up on the web. appreciation!
I think you inevitability abright colour here and there to accentuate the other colours. How abvout adjectives orange cushions and candles?
Plants lend a hand alot. Flowers or greenery. Find a focal point and start there.
ex: entertainment center. Somthing roomy in the center and somthing smaller on any side.
Such as larger oval silk flower arrangement in center and candles on any side.
Depending on your personal style,
Western~ Old Boot with flowers candles tied w/bandanas
Contemporary~Square container of greenery candles on square candle plates
This could dance on and on
Also, somthing on a coffee table, find a large wall print, afterwards use it as your inspiration. Buy your decorations from there. Check out a resale or goodwill store. Really disguised treasure here. Look at some magazines or website devoted to home styles.
Answers: You should definately use red as your accent color. Vases, picture frams, a sculputure or perchance some kind of asian inspired wall art would be worthy. In a small room, less is definately more. I would try putting a second skylight treament in adding together to the black sheer curtains. I would go next to a neutral, probably the same color as the mat so it does not look too busy. You didn't meantion what color your furniture (i.e. couch or chairs) was. If you can, I would slip cover the furniture black and use some read and fawn pillows. If you go next to a rug on the floor, make it dull colors, or maybe even rattan or some untaught material.
I reflect asian is the best look for what you discribed. DON'T over accessorize, chose a few accent pieces. The best means of access to see what you have is to purchase the stuff and try it out, a short time ago don't remove the tags and NEVER buy something you can't return!
