If it's either/or, afterwards I say nice blinds (because you can go and get nice woods, better ones cheaper now). But if you can have both, later add some curtains, which inevitability to be changed to drapes by the way when it get colder -- because it helps beside privacy & darkening the room, at darkness (especially if there's street lamps where on earth you are). The Peeping Toms know they can see through the open blinds, when the street lamp on, too. By the way, what's your street address again?

I would voice you could do both if you wanted. There are greatly of wooden blinds or shutters that look elegant. Then to join warmth to your room you could do a porthole treatment with exclusive drapes-scarves, sheers- It's easy to bring back very creative . If you reflect on of something-try it. Once when I was working on a friends home we get beautiful sheer textile, gathered the center and tied near a rubber band, next formed a rose-it was beautiful-then we hung that surrounded by the center and draped the ends out to form a "fan shape."
