Ok, so I'm planning on remodeling my bedroom. I've picked out furniture, flooring, even artwork. Now it's all come down to the bedding. I hold an idea roughly the style and color I want, I'm just sort of confused between the difference of a quilt, coverlet, duvet cover and comforter and not sure which set to buy. I want something that's sticky enough for the winter months, but not so gooey that I suffocate in the summer (yes, I similar to quilts/duvtes/coverlets/whatever the heck they're called even within the warm weather months!) so if some open-handed soul could help me out on this, I'd greatly appreciate it. Ten points to the best one; promise! :)
Answers:    A coverlet could be a regular blanket, those that probably have a satin lip on the top and bottom. A quilt is one that is quilted adjectives over, preferably handmade by Grandma. A duvet is like a down or plume spread, and duvet covers are like a slipcover for the spike one because it is expensive to dry clean them so you use a duvet cover so you can swab only the cover. A comforter can be a quilt close to top but not quilted, maybe tied at different places or other blankets you buy. I would try to game whatever you buy next to the walls. You will have to own something to cover the windows too but you could hold a choice of a lot here. Have fun, buy a good one to be exact nice. Have them open it at the store so you can be aware of it next to your skin. Does it score or is it fuzzy and makes you itch? It is slick and shiny and will slide sour the bed? Does it reach the floor, or do you want to cast a shadow on the side rails near a dust ruffle? You can do it, go for it!
ok...
Coverlet and quilt are incredibly much alike, but a quilt is usually quilted lol...the design is really the only difference. A quilt is going to hold all the patterned stitching and most likely, various different fabric types.

A duvet is a relatively gaunt cover that can fit a (down) comforter inside of it, it usually has a zipper or buttons on one extension that you slip the comforter into.

A comforter is the typical thicker, all-one-piece one that is on bed.

For your situation...a duvet will probably be best. You can take the comforter out surrounded by the summer and just use the thinner duvet, and give the comforter in the winter! The best category is to find the ones that come with a comforter that have ties or buttons that actually attach it to the duvet so it won't slide around.

Good luck!
