Answers: your local hardware store (Lowe's, home depot, etc..) sell cedar veneer that can be used to cover plain wood.

A cedar chest is not cedar on the outside. It can be pine, walnut, any kind of wood, but the cedar is the pool liner of the chest. So, if you have a pine chest, you could buy cedar strips, cut them to fit and use wood paste to line the chest. You would probably obligation to hold the strips in place beside clamps until they dried, or maybe you could use tiny finishing nail.
