I have to carpert my box room which is in need a carpet at the moment (floor boards noticeable and very ancient skirting). How to start this work. Please bear surrounded by mind that I am a novice when it comes to Carpeting. There are small gap between the floor bords, which I think is run of the mill, but do I need to put any underlie or some sort of insulation?

PLease could you also mention what tools and materials would be needed for this work.

Many thanks
Regards
Answers:    Get it fitted properly. Without the right tools you will not attain a good finish. To do the profession right you definitely involve a stretcher to take out the lumps & bumps & by the time you've bought that, and will probably never use it again, you could enjoy had it fitted surrounded by a fraction of the time & a lot better finish...... which you will be a great deal happier with........theres some job worth doing yourself & some that aren't & this is one of them!
i know u need nail, hammer and erm...them wooden strips next to nails on them i dream up to keep the hearth rug in place. u place them on the floor, against the wall, on the sides. and one of them hearth rug knives.
