My wife and I are looking at pricing for carpeting. We found one we like. It's a Mohawk Everstrand with a 10 year wear, 5 year stain, 5 year defect warranty. It's polyester with scotchguard. I can't find any other info on it probably because it's under a "house" signature (makes it difficult to compare) They are asking $36/ sq yard (4/ sq foot) for the carpet installed near an 8 lb pad.

Who really knows? Polyester is cheaper than nylon carpet and It doesn"t stain as readily. However, poly is smaller quantity crush resistant. Warranties on carpet are mostly just sale gimmicks. I mean, how tons people are going to call a hearth rug store 2 years later and try to have something done more or less stains. Mainly, when comparing carpet, just look at the mass per sq. yd. or the amt. of yarn per sq. yd. Remember, expensive carpet doesn"t resist stains or crushing any better than more affordable cpt. 31 yrs. experience. By the course, any carpet other than a commercial type (not berber) will look approaching a wet dog after 5 yrs. or more. That"s why I encourage to buy a more affordable cpt. and be convincing about what carpet is going to look close to after a few years of use.
