Carpet and Paint Choices? I want to redecorate a family room from the ground up. ...
I want to redecorate a family room from the ground up. I thought I should start by picking mat and wall colors, then buy a bright sofa and accessories. Is that the best agency to start? The only aspect in the room that I cannot vary is a brick fireplace with an oak mantle. It's really nice brick with variegated colors (putty, sand, etc.) and gray mortar. I don't know if I should progress with a traditional brown leather sofa or win more creative and choose a colored leather, like a burgundy or flotilla blue. Thoughts?
Answers: start with hearth rug and any fabrics/ leather, dont forget window treatments. THEN choose paint colors. much easier to compute off of material and carpet as near are virtually thousands of paint choices, but a much more limited supply of fabric and carpets that you will find locally.
also, i would recommend going near a natural leather, not colored, unless you will be likely to change it contained by 5 years when the color trends change.
Your fireplace is justly neural in color so any color you want on the walls would work. I individually like a muted but warm sickly. Be careful you don't win the paint too dark, usually any paint color you pick contained by the store, go at most minuscule a shade lighter because they end up looking a dark on the wall. If you go beside the yellow, your porthole treatments could be greens, browns, putty, sand, etc. prints. Or rich (what I like) with burgundy and gold ingots with some of the sand or putty colors contained by the background. Then you could be in motion with a murky burgundy leather sofa. Rich mahogany furniture. A nice focal point in the room that would show bad your different colors could be a tiffany stlye lamp.
