I've read from other posts that you can put insulation around (touching) IC recessed cans, but can you put it on top and deeply baricade the recessed lights with insulation?? -thanks

Answers:    There are two different types of rec. can. An I.C. model has a nought clearance capability allowing the insulation to come into contact beside the can with no problem. Otherwise you have need of to maintain two inches of clearance. Most cases it will not lead to a fire, but the cans hold circuit breakers and will cause the lights to cut past its sell-by date when they overheat. Get an electrician to come out and take a look at the type you enjoy. and they can advise from near.
