Can you paint over Formica counter tops? I have a house that I am renting out. I enjoy...
I have a house that I am renting out. I enjoy redone the inside however I own pink formica counter top I plan to replace next year, however the pink does not dance right now next to the other items I wanted to know if I could paint them so that the kitchen looks nice for the renters. Thanks alot DW
I used a product call Corrostop, it is a paint that can be used on metal, wood, plastic...just roughly speaking anything. My hardware store will even mix it to whatever color I ask. It have polyurethane in it so it's outstandingly shiny, but it has a fundamentally hard finish. I used it on a formica counter top and some wooden stairs that I didn't want to sand. I be amazed at how good the counter top looked, it didn't look painted, of late 'new'. The stairs looked very suitable but they are slippery.
Yes, you can, but you have to use melamine paint.
But it's not awfully durable.
Personally, I think you're better past its sell-by date putting new laminate over the top, or of late biting the bullet and doing the replacement now.
Answers: Yes you can but you enjoy to use "Melamine" paint.
They will have it at your local paint or hardware store.
I've done this previously and it works well. Also extremely durable.
