I'm thinking about covering my white bookcase and desk next to vinyl tile to match my other furniture. Is it a well brought-up idea? Or would a wood stain be better?
Answers: Sure, but I really don't surmise you will like it.
With the mass of the tile, you will see the edges which will also catch and curl over time. For a desk or bookshelf, thinner covering would be more potent.
If the items are painted, it will take extra work to sand, stain & stamp for a wood finish. If they are made out of a non-solid wood, then your best bet is to repaint or cover.
Cover can be from the stick on shelf-liner substance to an actual lay on top covering. I went to the yard goods store and found leather looking vinyl that I trimmed to the size of each shelf. There are a big choice of coverings at a fabric store that are washable.
no no no don't do that, i used to work surrounded by a floor coverings shop and vinyl should really only be used underfoot. although if you did resembling the tiled look, in attendance is a hige variety of laminex panel to chooce from which you can go and get from any cabinet maker. I'm not sure how much it costs though, but the finished product is amazing.
