We have junkers wooden flooring that have a laquered finish . Is this able to be sand back and restained? it is looking a bit tired and Ideally i would similar to it to be slightly darker than the pearwood finish that it currently is.
Answers: Rental places will instruct you on how to successfully remove antediluvian finish from your hardwood floors. They're sell you the different grits of sandpaper and rent the two kinds of sanders that you'll call for. (A belt sander for most of the room and an orbital sander for the edges and corners.)
When you go sour to the DYI store, ask about different stains and finishes. I own never stained any floor that I have sand, preferring, instead to just coat it the three times beside a water-based urethane. There are products that claim to be two-in-one (stain and urethane). I would not recommend them since you may not like the effect and a correction is only just that much more difficult to do.
Hardwood floors boost the resale value of a home tremendously and are ably worth the time and effort.
If it is a true wood floor and not a laminate, than you can rent a commercial sander, remove the behind the times finish and put a new coat on. This is a time consuming commission. If you are not familiar next to this type of dyi I would suggest you do some research into what all it will nick to do the job.
