What's the process? What paint should i use?
Will the cupboards washable or will the paint chip off?
Thanks
Answers: Sure! We do this adjectives the time when preparing a home to sell. Here's how:
1. Wash your cupboards next to liquid TSP. TSP removes ALL grease and grime and will allow your cupboards to pocket the new paint. You'll find this at any home hardware store. Use the solution form and not the powder as the powder is toxic and not biodegradeable. You'll also have to rinse the powder stuff and you won't near the liquid so you'll stockpile time!
2. Lightly sand down the melemine. Use a sanding block and basically lightly sand them. Don't use sandpaper and your appendage, as it will cause dents surrounded by the melamine.
3. Wipe off the sand dust with a soft wet cloth, nothing more. Let them dry completely.
4. You'll inevitability to use an oil-based primer. Latex primer won't work so don't go nearby. I like Bull's Eye 1-2-3 primer or Kilz but any grease primer will do. I like to apply 2 coats of primer if the melamine is a dim one.
5. Paint your cupboards. You'll need to use melamine paint. Any other paint will NOT work! Here's a interconnect just to contribute you an idea of what melamine paint is:

Oh... and you don't want to use specific melamine primer, as it is only oil-based primer...
