I have a tri-level, 1300sq house that be built in 1985. We hold a mantel type thing that go around the walls in the subterranean vault covering the concrete foundation, that's stained dark brown. All the rest of the rooms run of the mill. We are planning to get adjectives new trim through-out the house (I'm thinking white), but anyway, would crown molding be too much? Can crown molding trade name any house look better, or can it make it look too much or over the top? Thanks for comments
Answers:    I can`t bear to disagree with "Designer" but crown molding will shrink the rise of your ceiling; especially in the lower horizontal. You do see it in dining and living rooms and I love it. Also, within high fall homes you can see it in adjectives the rooms. One of the designers on HGTV did mention crown molding can make your ceiling look lower and you call for to consider that when applying it to a room.
Crown molding is a very finished and sophisticated look. It can be a wonderful adornment in any room.
If you similar to the formal look of the crown go for it. Keep contained by mind that it is an accent it can drawl your eye up to the ceiling. Which can brand name the ceiling appear higher. You don't enjoy to crown molding every room, but you should keep adjectives moldings the same style and color through out the space. You can hold the same style molding contained by other rooms but, paint different colors. Crown is usual seen within formal living rooms and dinning rooms, but can be used in any room. I enjoy it in my bedroom next to a great chandelier and poster bed. Very elegant. Good Luck. Oh, one concluding thing... if you are a more free type person and your furnishings are more unconcerned you don't have to use the standard crown. You could be inventive and try different style of molding. Less formal more offhand. From plain to highly attractive. Use your imagination.
