I'd resembling to use them for books...books are pretty heavy.

Answers:    It depends ENTIRELY upon the inserts, I suggest you contact Lowes and find out Excactly what the immensity limits are, in need knowing the diameter, the type of insert etc it is impossible to say yes or no whether they will support books. There are abundant Quality inserts for shelves, etc that can easily support 200 pounds or more, but you obligation to purchase them for the specific weight, circumstance, wall structure etc for them to work.
I would not place books on shelves that don't own brackets. These shelves are meant more for a fluffy weight display. If I needed a shelf to hold books, I would seize one that uses brackets and then paint the brackets indistinguishable color as the wall, so it doesn't stand out so much. Good luck!
