Buying furniture for first house? My fiance and I are going to be buying a house in...
My fiance and I are going to be buying a house in two years, and we are starting to save. I'm contained by charge of the furniture part, and was wondering how much I should liberate. Right now we've budgeted about $5,000 for furniture, including: Sofa, Coffee table, washer/dryer, refridgerator, assorted kitchen items(dishes, cooking utensils), and I don`t know a bed, but we're not sure yet (because we both have bed right now that could be used if need be).
Is nearby any other pieces of furniture I'm missing? What should our budget be? Also, any tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Answers: Don't forget someplace to eat - either a kitchen or dining room table and chairs. You will probably also want some sort of stool for your livingrooom with an end table subsequent to it.
You will be amazed how much all the little things wil ladd up - a nightstand for the guestroom, an extra dresser, an end table here or in that, a bookcase, shelves, a table for the hall, a trunk for blankets, a lamp or two, etc etc etc.
budget depends on your taste. IKEA is pretty cheap, antiques can be expensive, second hand is really cheap.
Don;t feel similar to you need to buy everything new - OK, a bed and couch, sure, but you can probably find a really nice used diningroom table for much smaller amount that you'd pay for it used. You'd be surpriced at whats out at the nicer consignment shops - stuff that seems brand up to date... Maybe the family had to move adjectives of a sudden, maybe someone's gone into a nursing home, maybe those just got unknown furniture... what I'm saying is that just because its at one of those stores doesn't expect its junk.
end table, well the best thing to do is catch a catalog and go thru and get prices on items that you might necessitate and some you want. then i would add 15% after export tax because you are waiting two years. remember all the little things towels, blankets all the things it took your parents years to acquire
