Bunk bed solution? I'm going to be sleeping on the top bunk of a bunk...

I'm going to be sleeping on the top bunk of a bunk bed. I need something close to this:

except my bunk beds are made out of metal. Could I use some sort of locker shelf? It is alluring.
Has anyone Have any experience beside rattan flooring?
Answers:    I found a shelf like that for my son's dorm room bunk bed. It be plastic and it clamps to the bed frame. I've seen them at Target and at Linen's and Things. Maybe Bed, Bath and Beyond, too.
