What is the difference between a bedspread and a comforter and a duvet cover?

I am so confused - we are trying to register for bedding and near is so much to choose from. We want a "bedspread" we can use as a cover along with a blanket and sheet - not something so fancy that it's one and only for decoration. Something comfortable and soft to cover up next to.

What would you recommend?
Mary Beth is correct in everything she said. I totally agree 100% beside her. One thing roughly a comforter, is that you will need a bedskirt because it doesn't be in motion all the road to the floor. If you get the "bed surrounded by a bag", it is included. I actually prefer comforter covers, (a.k.a. duvet) because whenever they attain dirty or you just want to freshen them up, I basically take the comforter out and throw the duvet contained by the washing appliance. It is basically two sheets sewn together on three sides and buttons on the bottom to preserve the comforter from sliding out. Much easier to wash than a counterpane or a comforter.

A bedspread is a showy cover for a bed so you can use it without a blanket but you could also use it near a blanket.

A comforter is sometimes heavier and is much warmer surrounded by the winter time and can be made out of various materials...i.e. cotton, wool, I've never see silk but I guess its possible. Its sometimes quilted as well but not other. I have a comforter that's not quilted.

A duvet is a daypack usually filled next to feathers, and you have a cover next to a zipper that you slip the duvet into. This can have adjectives sorts of patterns on the cover chunk and can come in different colors. You can also use bed sheets and a blanket as well.

Personally I find a short time ago a normal comfotor to be nice and heat in the winter as very well a the summer and you can still have a blanket and sheets near it. And its easier to was later the duvet cover.
Answers:    A bedspread covers the integral bed, to the floor. They're not usually used for a blanket, but are usually for decoration.

A comforter is what you will see most commonly in the "bed contained by a bag" products. It's a filled blanket (so it's thick) and can be used as the fundamental blanket, if you wish.

A duvet cover is used to cover a down comforter. Down comforters are usually dry-clean merely, so it's helpful to hold a cover that's washable - hence the duvet cover. In theory, you could use a duvet cover to cover a comforter of any compassionate - if you disliked the pattern on the comforter, for instance.

It sounds resembling the comforter is what you're looking for!
