Bay glass installation? I'm just doing some initial investigation into turning a picture window into...

I'm just doing some initial investigation into turning a picture window into a fjord window.
I have no opinion if this is a 1000$ job or a 5000$ job or even more... I am ill-equipped to have a contractor come in and grant me a quote, I just want a general thought if it's even worth thinking about.
Any Ideas?

Answers:    here is a differance between a bay window and a firth walk out as the other guy is talking going on for.u asked about a bay porthole, cost of window is effected by the size u want.u will call for to support the outside of the window either beside an angle brace at the front edges or to a foundation or a deck.mine goes out over a deck..if not over a porch u will have need of a roof system most use a copper or like "cap"..

if a window part is already there and only enjoy to close in the opening or use the embark on size u have then ur looking at just about $ 3,500.00...

Hi Magic.A lot of times if we don't want to spend big bucks and hours of detail work we will use 3 windows and derive at our shape by their sizes...you can also just frame a box on the o.s. of the house and move the fanlight farther out with a side light type porthole on each end. In most cases, inlet windows aren't cheap. But if you have time and forgiving.you can just buy a nice bay fanlight and do it yourself.really isn't much to it..just time consuming. I'v e also built reading area's or seating area's for ancestors.and they enjoy that type of projection also..we sometimes refer to them as "blisters" and buy the way...I doubt you can touch the 1000 dollar price.but hold fun, it will work out:)
