We are recarpeting two rooms in our house, respectively has a small closet. Total square footage is in the order of 300 square feet. I'm wondering what the average cost of installation is, specifically contained by the Puget Sound area. Do they largely charge by square foot? Or per hour? I have tried calling and everyone say we have to own a salesman come over for a quote, which I don't want if possible.

It would be over a wipe, cut pile, normal hearth rug. We will be removing the old mat, so that's not of concern.

Answers:    The reason they want to come out is so they can receive an accurate measurement. You would be surprised how various people hold trouble getting accurate sq ft. If they take your word on 300 sq ft and it turns out to be 375 and you don't want to earnings the difference they just emaciated a lot of time.
