In a fairly high-end home that overlooks the lake, is it okay to use old-style living room furniture? (Couch, loveseat, etc., around 20 years old, but PRISTINE condition--look brand new.) We love the style and look, but don't want to cheapen the good-looking living area. We have lovely Kinkade prints, magnificently framed, on the walls, and think this type of furniture brings out the colors, etc., in the pictures.
Would it be a genuine faux pau to use this cute little couch/loveseat set, complete with skirts, like they used to enjoy, etc.? Print is large, pale pink roses next to sage green/hunter green leaves. Thanks so much for taking the time to read my question!
Answers: That could look really good if you hold the rest of your home away from modern things. Also, adding wood furniture will keep your style looking nice. Wooden shadow boxes near beachy-type items will bring the beach in your house in need looking out of place.
If you love those pieces, use them, but tie in like peas in a pod subtle colors through-out your home. Hope this helped!
