Our living room at the moment was painted by my s-i-l who loved maroon. It is course dark for the room and I am planning on painting it a flimsy green and beige. My question is, does anyone enjoy a site that they know of that gives me an idea of designs, i.e. fictitious wainescot, stripes, designs or what have ya! I want the base to be the green next to the beige as a "break-up" color, but I want to get some philosophy on a design before I start and end up hate it.
tape down the walls just about 3 inches apart and inbetween the tape apply polyurethane. omg yes

What about green halfway up(from the bottom) and a cream/beige framework wallpaper with greenery pattern such as ivy, palm trees, or even plaid on the upper partly? Sounds pretty to me and you could add a chair railing or wallpaper border at the dividing point. hgtv.com maybe
Answers:    Here are some resources - you could totally pull this off and gross it look spectacular. You may even want to try mixing a quart of clear glaze (behr makes a worthy one) to each gallon of the darker paint, simply to help highlight the contrast and breed it pop! Just remember, before you get started, to paint a stratum of primer over that dark red or you will have to paint similar to 5-6 coats of paint to cover it..not fun. :)
