Adding on to your home books/DVDs? Im looking to add on to my home by extending the backporch...

Im looking to add on to my home by extending the backporch and making it into a hobby room. Are there any fitting books, or even DVDs that will help show me how to do this. Things approaching planning, making sure it'll work, foundation, frame, adding on to a roof, etc.
What color of sheets would look best next...
