Acid for removing grout? my husband tiled our walls surrounding the tub, i put a stone...

my husband tiled our walls surrounding the tub, i put a stone elocution strip about 6" wide-ranging across the wall. my problem is he used too much grout and didn't wipe it off swift enough, very soon it's dried on. i bought an acid base remover from home depot's tile department but am hesitant to use it for start of removing too much grout or ruining the tile, even though its supposed to be ok. has anyone done this beforehand, what's your experience?
Answers:    just followthe directions, wear gloves and dont verbs,it's not strong enough to remove to much. you'll find green nylon scrubbies thoughtful! after it dries over-nite, make sure to use a perfect sealer.
another alternative is to buy a razor blade scraper.they are usually 3 inches huge and have a switch for ease of use
