okay so im redoing my room bur i have no conception how to make it fun and cute. im 16 years old and i love color and photogrpahy. i love getting set so any ideas with for a while makeup station would be really helpful & im really girly. i like glowing ( not dark ) things. i already picked out sheets that are yellow, babe blue, mint green, and pink. my furniture is light brown. i wanted to do the sheets near a white blanket and have colorful accessories. so if you enjoy any ideas on how i can make it exciting please comment.
hey i'm 16 to and i'm into photography to.. lol
you should get someone to paint a mural on your wall or you could do it yourself.
or sort a collage out of photos. yours or from magazines and stuff.
or paint your room a cute girly way:) and near cute decorations
good luck
oh, awesome! xD
i think that you should bring in a colorful rainbow on your wall where your bed is, and then paint clouds on the ceiling. (:
for the "girly" bit, re-make your desk into a beauty station, and use plastic containers/cups to hold things. maybe you could put glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling near the clouds, and go to a person that can cut stuff out of metal, and ask them to shape your name or a word out of metal, so you can stick it on your wall as a decoration. xD you could also put pictures of you and your friends on the wall, sort of resembling a collage, and then decorate near ribbon, buttons, glitter, that kind of stuff. i hope this come in help, please vote as best answer if you grain that you could really use this advice. [x
Answers: Sounds wonderful so far! What color do you resembling best in those sheets? The yellow? Blue? Minty green? Or the pink? If it be me, I would choose one of those colors and really play it up. Any of those colors would be terrific for your walls - (I always lean towards green myself), and that sounds like a sunny, smiling green that would work beautifully. If your furniture was white I would lean more to the washed out for wall color, but I think ANY of those could be beautiful. Go as wishy-washy or dark as you want...just craft sure the tones match.
Then go crazy near your pillows. Look for shams and throw pillows to play up all the colors - but especially the one you put on the wall. (For instance, with the example of using the green - I would look for several shams within the same color family..consequently use 3 or 4 smaller throw pillows that bring in strong splashes of the other colors and tie back into your sheets.
The sky's the check with your makeup station. Big Lots and other discount stores usually have them organized to go.or you could look for an inexpensive desk at a garage sale or something - and paint that desk beside the same colors as your wall and accessories. (Maybe a dark or lighter version of the green, and if there are drawers consequently paint the facings blue or yellow.) You can find wonderful decorative drawer pulls at any Home Depot or Lowe's. I own a desk my Mom painted - it's wonderful. She taped off the surface and painted it a ominous green. The rest of the desk is a lighter green (from the same color card), and then the drawers are painted drawn yellow with ivy and berries painted on them. You can find inexpense stools or chairs at most Wal Marts if you progress the desk route..and again, if you go with a painted desk, try to find an inexpensive mirror beside a pretty basket-weave border or something equally feminine. (Targets or the JC Penney catalog may be of use to you there)
Finally, if you like, go to www.getdecorating.com, or any of the famous paint websites to help inspire you. Behr has an excellent one, and so does Benjamin Moore.
I don't know if you still collect dolls or stuffed animals or anything approaching that (at 16 I loved ceramic clowns and stuffed animals), but you could get an inexpensive picnic basket - spray paint it if you have to - and put that in the corner of your room to display your collection while you're also storing it. I have one of those in my room for years, and I loved to look at it or take the dolls out while I be talking on the phone. Otherwise they would have be stored in boxes or on a shelf somewhere and forgotten.
And definitely, plainly, definitely display your photography! It would be so easy and inexpensive to enjoy your pictures blown up to whatever size you wanted, and move about to Michaels or any craft store and have them matted and framed. That is a personal touch that no one else can emulate. It will be distinctly YOU, and net your room extra-special.
The main thing is - enjoy fun, do what looks good to YOU, and remember the only valid rules to decorating are to stick with what you approaching and what you will enjoy when you walk contained by your room. It's so much fun to take a ho-hum space and make it uniquely your own.and you're at a terrific age that you could hold alot of fun with it.
I love the lime green and pink. If you are going to paint your walls they make such a striking color scheme.. Cute!! what i would do is prob. do is prob. put: stripes, polka dots, flowers...anything that seems cute!
