Which wash piece of equipment (UK)? My trusty old machine wishes to retire! I have a budget...

My trusty old machine wishes to retire! I have a budget of up to about lb550. Has anyone get any opinions on which are the best manufacturers/models these days?

I'd approaching a model with variable heat min. of 6.5kg load capacity and timer delay. Apart from that, I've no real preferences.
Frigidaire and Whirlpool appear to be the ones consumer reports gives high ratings too Our Hotpoint Aquarius have been trouble free apx 4 years old and on ALL THE TIME!!
I have a Philco which was well over 20 years older when it finally lay down last year. The bearing be gone and I was told better just to draw from a new machine. I get a Zanussi one for about lb300 and it is great. I cant tell you the model number of late at the moment though. It's not all digital like my Mum's Zanussi which be bought around the same time as mine. It is simple to use, has 6.5 kg dimensions and variable spin speed up til 1600 rpm. There is half nouns function as well as economy wash, quick washes and even an extra speedy wash (about 1/2 hour I think). It's not as noisy as my ancient machine either. Very glad with my Zanussi indeed.

Hope this helps.
Answers:    Go to your local library and have a look at "which?" magazene. I bought a strange machine last year - "which" said that the tricity bendix models go wrong a lot less than any of the other models.

By the bearing John Lewis are generally the cheapest supplier and they give a two year guarantee for free on adjectives washing machines they sell.
If the old machine is "trusty", why does she inevitability to retire just yet?

My house is too small for a washer and a dryer, so I get a washer dryer. Indesit, with delay timer.
Put a small ammount of bleach within your machine and give it a 40 'c dry-clean. That'll sort out the bacteria that makes the smell between wash. When the time comes to change your machine Indesit have always been a dutiful machine for us. Our machine is on 3 times a sunshine. I believe the national average is 3 times per week.

If your not fond of Indesit remember that spending more usually means you get more. So do you want Peugeot or Mercedes or should i read out Creda or Miele?
Indesit, and hide away some cash!
