It's a new Rowenta and per the book on effort & cleaning, you have to salary to get the cleaning tools sent to you. Ahhhhhh!! That iron is not all it's cracked up to be any. Save your $, if you're planning on getting one.
Try this: Pour a 'covering' branch of salt on wax rag and iron it as you would a piece of linenn. If yiour iron, which you are not impressed with, doesn't verbs it up, go to the thrift shop.

I other use a really old iron that works, over the "new" type.
If the soleplate is not non-stick you can make a bond of baking soda and water. Rub it on cool iron next to a soft cloth. Yhen wip it off beside another damp cloth.

On any iron, you can also turn it to unmatched heat and use a wood spoon or a flat stick (popcicle ones good) to nick it. Then iron the rest off on a terry cloth.
Answers:    For many, frequent years, my mom would 'iron' over a metal scrach pad (Chore Girl); the silver curly ones - not the extra coase ones. Her iron have metal bottom.
How do you find GUNK on the bottom of an iron in the first place...? What are you in reality doing with your iron..? I've have my steam iron for years and the only piece I've ever had to clean/change, for a range of reasons.. lol, is the ironing board cover... I'd really approaching to know more..!
