What is the best sturdy ironing board on the flea market? especially on hearth rug.?
I use my old ironing board, I took the cover sour because it was sooo raggedy. I just put a hip bath towel on top of the iron board , lay my shirt on top of the towel, and iron away! i broke my ironing table while moving and i merely put a towel down on my bathroom counter top and iron on there. i hate dragging the ironing board surrounded by and out of the closet so i just us my counter top!
Anything that ISN'T the carpet. Before we bought an ironing board I ironed on the hearth rug, all the scum on it melt and I burnt a hole in the floor, shabby my clothes and ruined the iron.

Answers: No ironing board is sturdy on carpet, not because of the board, but because of the carpet. Carpet is made of fibers and not solid, thus they "move". If within is a pad under the runner, this enhances the movement. When you move the iron back and forth,it cause different pressure points on the feet of the board and it becomes unsteady. Walk across a mattress and you win the same result.
