I have found weevils surrounded by opened cereal, rice, and flour within my pantry, but also UNOPENED rice, etc. Have thrown out all artificial food but want to clean pantry to put to death those crawling on the walls. Any advice or experience you hold had beside this? I prefer a method that doesn't use insecticide, but if I must, can you also give warning on that? Thank you!
Answers: --First, use a bleach solution to clean e exceedingly crook and cranny in the pantry. I use one division bleach to five parts water. If you are sensitive to bleach, use undiluted rubbing alcohol, but trade name sure that you wash everthing down 2-3 times simply to be sure.
--Invest in plastic or chalice containers. Depending on the quantities you buy, in that are a number of different things you can use. Rubbermaid have products for every size. They also have a canister set for flour/sugar/etc. If you get a couple of them, you would have adequate for the various cereal. They also have sturdy containers that are the competition for Gladware (but a thousand times better than gladware). I meditate that brandline is called TakeAlongs. The quart size are the ultimate size for a pound of rice or a Malt-O-Meal and the seal is tight.
--If you don't want to invest within plastic, then you can also use aged jars. I other buy the store brand applesauce in a 50-oz cup jar and then set free it when I am done to store beans, noodles, and other things in. You can remove the sticky label with a bit of acetone (nail polish remover) on a Q-tip.
--Old buckets from 4- or 5-quarts of rime cream work well too. When they win old, you can consequently use them for a bucket when you wash the coup¨¦, carry veggies surrounded by from the garden, or any number of other little projects.
No need to use bleach. Any adjectives purpose cleaner will work. The eggs come in the grain from the store. Don't waste your time freezing them. The eggs only go dormant, and hatch when they go and get warm. I tried this next to bird seed, and I get them again.
