The floors are 17 yrs. old and I immediately see parts that are turning yellow. I don't usually use wax on them and need some backing to remove this. Can't afford new flooring. Can someone endow with me some advice on this problem?
Answers: Vinyl flooring and linoleum is prone to this problem.
Some of it can be attributed to residue from floor cleaner disappeared without self completely rinsed (Mr. Clean floor cleaner and Mop N Glo are two big culprits.) Also, it could be a chemical reaction from items on the floor which cause the yellowing. Pet bowls, rubber-backed rugs are two items which can cause the yellowing.
I don't enjoy a simple solution for you. I wish I did.but the yellowing is close impossible to remove. Last year I have to deal near this same issue. My house was on the marketplace, and I needed to get the floor contained by show-room shape for the Open House. I googled, asked people contained by home repair shows, but nobody had a clear-cut answer on how to remove the pallid. I tried everything. Some things helped fade the washed out, but nothing removed it.
I next decided to buy those peel-n-stick 12 x 12 tiles and re-do the floor myself. The trim be a beener...I'd advise you enlist a couple friends to lend a hand you. I absolutely loved the unknown floor I installed myself (and I will say this...if I can do it, I know anybody can.I'm not handy...my talent are in crafts, cleaning, cooking and baking.) It cost me $75 to buy the materials for my unusual floor (my kitchen was 12 x 15).
Other than that, I would push for a large indoor/outdoor nouns rug to conceal most the yellow spots.
The best entry you can do is educate yourself on what cause the floor yellowing so your next floor won't hold the same malady.
Good Luck!
You involve a wax stripper. Only thing is after you strip it, your going to want to wax it because the floor will find very dull. You can draw from a wax stripper at Home Depot or Lowes.
