Washing Machine Problems - not draining or spinning. electrical burning smell. is it the motor? This is a Kenmore direct drive, 3 speed, washing tool. At first...
This is a Kenmore direct drive, 3 speed, washing tool. At first the problem was the device would drain but wouldn't spin. I took it apart and the motor coupler was cracked, so I replaced it. I put everything put money on together, tested it, and the pump doesn't work and it won't spin. Plus, I get strong electrical burning smell.
I tested the continuity of the lid switch and that seem fine. I can hear the timer pause and see on, so that leads me to believe it's ok. I took the apparatus apart again, bypassed the lid switch, and turned it on. The motor isn't spinning at all and I still grasp the electrical burning smell.
I tried running some continuity checks on the motor and the capacitor, but I can't tell if I'm doing it right from the instructions I found online. I have an idea that the motor is shot, but I'm also worried about the capacitor.
Any experience or suggestions would be awfully helpful. I can't do anything until Monday because adjectives the parts stores are closed.
Thanks!
Maybe it would be cheaper to buy another gadget, rather than thieve a chance beside a electrical fire.
I have a similar problem with my Kenmore wash machine a couple weeks ago. I tried to check it out, but have to call Sears service afterall, It needed a up to date transmission, and it be covered by warrantee but I had to reward for "diagnosis" and labour.
In my luggage, the motor was ok, but it wouldn't click contained by when it had to adaptation gears and go into giant speed spin, therefore the clothes weren't properly drained.
Answers: If by motor coupler you are talking going on for the connection between the motor shaft and the nouns, you probably have a locked up or jammed nouns. Something caused the coupler to break. The motor could also be dog-eared from running with this other problem.
Remove the motor and see if it runs when not connected to anything. You can assessment it with a amperage meter if you own on, if not you can give somebody a lift the motor to any motor shop and have them testing it.
Next, see if you can turn the input to the transmission to see if it is frozen up or jammed.
