Can I risk washing cream linen trousers that have a "dry verbs only" label by hand within cool or cold water? Thank you.
when entrepreneur couldn't be bothered to prewash the fabric , a dry clean lone label will appear.
sloppy constructors use "dry clean only". linen is an infinitely washable stuff, but, if you do so now , it will shrink like nutty.
they should have preshrunk the linen at the factory.
off to the dry cleaners you turn!
I have been sewing for 40 years as a issue of fact as soon as I answer the question I will be making a linen dress for my wife as very well as 3 pairs of linen pants 2 for me and 1 for her.
Linen is quite washable as a yard goods, what determines whether or not the garment itself is washable is how it is constructed and other materials used such as interfacing. For example if the trousers have a waistband is the waistband interfaced with a pellon or woven interfacing. woven can stand up to device washing, whereas pellon will lose its shape causing a rumpled (not smooth) waistband.
Answers: They will probably lose their 'dress' and be a bit limp after, that's if they don't shrink, it adjectives depends on the quality and finish they have to start near.
Don't do it. It will totally wreck the fabric and they will probably shrink and fit your cat instead of you. LOL
