Answers:    Is there a belt tensioner? I assume that you`ve tried turning the drum manually and it`s running freely, this would rule out the bearing in the drum individual worn out and seized. Where the motor is, there may be a bit on the bracket which can be moved to adjust the stiffness, also. That apart, I`d need to see it.
