Should I buy an Oreck XL21? I was just vacuuming the house and I get to the last...

I was just vacuuming the house and I get to the last room and it started to smell so bad. It lost power and smelt resembling something was burring. It is a $70 dirt devil.

We have 3 dogs and a child on the way. We live near a seaside so our dogs are always bringing in sand and unmoving grass. I found a good deal on the Oreck XL21 it is as a rule a $750 vacuum I found it for $315.00.

Should I bite the bullet and buy it? OR wait and save my money and use the crappy one we own? I don't know what to do. I feel the new Vacuum is something I entail. I want a clean house for my baby.

BUY IT OR NOT?
Answers:    Sounds approaching the rubber belt on your vacuum burned in half due to the roller not one able to turn either due to obstacle or simply too much "stuff" wrapped around it. Replacing a belt is very easy, usually a phillips leader screwdriver and 2 - 4 screws and the roller cover comes off and the roller can be taken out & cleaned and a hot belt put on. Wal Mart, K Mart sells the belts and simple to put on.

But Oreck does make a awesome vacuum and is greatly better as far as not sending dust back into the air and picking up more. Used on your matress, they even pick up the little mites & unconscious skin where a Dust Devil will get hugely little.
I have an oreck but an older model. It works wonders on everything. I enjoy 2 kids, 4 dogs and 8 cats by the way. Instead of wasting around $315 on an Oreck XL21 why don't you try a dyson for just $500.

I enjoy experiance both vacuums and I'd have to say, the Dyson is much more stronger and worth the few extra brass.

The Oreck however, being so lightweight lost its suction in around 6-7 months. It be very good while it last but their durability wasn't as promised. 21 year gurentee? psh. try half a year.

I have have a dyson for around 2 years now and it still works like latest. And being a new mommy the dyson is restrained and works great.

You can pinch even more pennies if you get the new mini dyson. :]

Congrats and hope this help.
