Answers:    I get one for Christmas and I LOVE it! I haven't vacuumed since and my floors are cleaner than they have ever be (I have 3 cats). It works on hardwood, tile, and thoughtful pile carpet. The first few days it picked up profusely of dirt my regular vacuum and swiffer had be missing, but now I simply let it dance everyday when I'm at work and it picks up a lot smaller number dirt. I can see a big improvement and I don't own to wash my floors resembling I use to.

I would get it at a bricks and mortar (got mine from Sears) store and return with the extended warranty to go near it in suitcase anything breaks.
I do not own one but it seems to me that they would not hold extremely much debris and I would also be concerned roughly speaking them picking up some that I would not want them too. What if they ran over a phone or stereo chain. I just reflect on for the cost that you could get a much more powerful vacuum similar to the oreck. My step mom has an oreck an I really want one the suction power is amazingly good. Good luck on your finding:)
