what the heck. I clean the downstairs toilet every week but I still carry this ugly ring surrounded by the bowl looks like mold to me. How do I obtain rid of it and and what the heck is it.
Is it OK to use dishwashing solution as...
probably mineral deposits.....pour some plain bleach into the bowl and use a toilet brush....get the cheap bleach, it works a moment ago as well, you may hold yo do this every week of so. good luck PS don't put nought in the reservoir, it will eat away at the plumbing inside

What cleaning products work best for Hard Water...
CLR is good.(Calcium, lime,rust remover) for the stubborn, won't progress away ring I get from untreated hose. or good ripened bleach.
Don't mix chemicals. Use each separately.

Better still, contract out to someone else!!

Answers:    I am not sure what it is but once a week I add a cup of bleach to the toilet and tolerate it soak while I clean the rest of the bathroom. When I am done I flush and afterwards use Borax and vinegar to scrub down the inside and all of the outer parts. I swish the toilet within our house with cleaner 2 other times per week as we own one toilet and we are a family of 4 (one is still surrounded by diapers). Good luck on getting this resolved.
