anyone know of a good not dangerous method of cleaning oil, and grime from a electric guitar fretboard, in need damaging the wood..?
cheers.., (and maintain rockin on...)
Answers: if it's rosewood, then use some lem grease and that should take most of it stale.. what ever you do, avoid using a pick to scrape the stuff sour.. the best way to verbs your fretboard is to remove all the strings and spray lem grease then use your fingernail below a soft piece of cloth to scrape the stuff rotten. that can be a pain, but it's the best track
Get some naptha (main ingredient in lighter fluid) available from most home recovery stores like Lowes, Menard's, or Home Depot. It will not injure the wood. Use the naptha and some 000 steel wool and lightly rub the fingerboard surrounded by the direction of the wood grain. Follow this cleaning beside a fretboard conditioner or light lemon grease. Avoid oils that contain petroleum products.
