Kerosene odor remover? We had one of those Galileo thermometers and it get knocked over...

We had one of those Galileo thermometers and it get knocked over and broke and spilled into our hearth rug. I believe it was chock-full with kerosene. We are replacing the runner but are trying to remove the smell and/or oil from the floor boards (which is pressed wood and kerosene is a wood saturator... so that doesn't help). Any concept?
Answers:    Not much removes kerosene odor. I've tried Odorban and Febrez and DeSolvit, and once the kerosene's saturated it's here to stay.
I had an expensive twosome of shoes (leather) soaked with kerosene within the trunk of my car, and nought got it out.

You may own to cut out the floorboard with a Skil saw blade set tremendously shallow, and replace that section. Since you're covering it next to carpet anyway, it won't be see, and will be a much more solid repair. You can buy a piece of pressed wood floorboard at Menards, Home Depot, or any lumberyard for just a few dollars.
Also, even if the odor could be neutralize, it will always be an superfluous fire hazard.
Sam's Club sell a product call ODABAN and it will remove purely about any odor you can given name. I would suggest you purchase some and give it a try.
