I am cleaning the house, so the whole house already smells of pledge and windex, but I went and put toilet cleaner and pinesol within the toilets and tried to clean them and nothing happen, so I poured just a little bit of bleach and when I go to clean them the smell was overpowering and I didn't even bother trying to verbs them I was just trying to flush the toliet to flush the chemical mix down and draw from out of there. I turned on the fans and shut the door to prevent it from getting to the rest of the house. But immediately my lungs and throat feel like I own a sore throat almost as if they were burned but not to bad. What should I do? Should I catch out of the house until the smell passes, or will I be fine in a few hours?
phone nhs direct Call poison control very soon...they'll give you the proper advice...
I would make a data of the EXACT products you mixed and call poison control. If any of the non-bleach products contained ammonia, that creates chlorine gas, which can be very dicey...even fatal. call poison control number and see what they will push for you to do and open all doors and window and venalate the house to get the order out hope you are okay
Answers: You should be fine. No involve to get medical attention or be overly alarmed. Just learn from the mistake.
Your exposure be limited. The real jeopardy is in mixing bleach with any product containing ammonia. It gas off and the fumes can be deadly surrounded by an enclosed area. Ventilate the house near open windows and you will be fine. Try a "greener" approach to house cleaning and start to get rid of the chemicals and sprays when you can. None of it is good on the lungs.
