I have my grandfather's WW1 uniform unpacked from his army trunk but don't hold a clue as to how to try to clean it.
I'm sure the yard goods is very fragile and I of late don't think any dry cleaners around here would even touch it! There be a pair of gloves contained by the trunk which pretty much disintegrated and there is white moldly stuff on the uniform.
Any concept on how to tackle this? All pieces appear to be 100% wool.
DO NOT CLEAN YOURSELF.
Make some phone calls...even if you own to send contained by the mail...to those who CAN do a suitable job!

I honestly don't know myself, but I wouldn't do anything until I contacted a reputable museum curator to find an expert in cleaning and storage of old-fashioned textiles.
I would do this duly soon. If you have mold on the yard goods, you are already in reflective trouble.
Answers: I just saw a similar situation on Antiques Road Show. The experts within recommended a "Conservator" for the job. Takes out adjectives the guess work as how to handle this. And removes the risks involved. A museum could get hold of you started on where to find such a soul.
