I have white short that have blue stains on them that they acquire somewhere INSIDE the washing machine. Unfortunately, they own already been dried. I'm thinking it's either stuff softener or detergent... but not sure.
I have them soaking in oxy verbs right now, but it does not seem to be doing anything. I'm trying a bleach soak on one set of two that is pure white... but I can't do that with the past its sell-by date white.
Any suggestions on what else I can try? I'm so sad, they are all brand hot clothes :(
Answers: Even if something has been dried within the dryer this works for me!
Put 1 to 2 cups lemon ammonia (will not bleach the item) in a five gallon bucket or your laundry sink. (Sometimes I pour a tablespoon directly on the stain and rub it in since soaking it!) Soak the stained item for twenty-four hours in the diluted ammonia. The stain should easily rub out, but if it doesn't, apply straight grease warfare dish soap. I like the bleach alternative ones that are clear. Turn the item over on a hard surface similar to the washing machine lid, and use a soft scrub brush on the BACK SIDE of the stain.
Some more of my favorite remedies are Formula 409, Whink Rust remover, Goop, and Mary Ellen's stain remover for colored fabric, and spot shot.
I always beat the stain!
Go buy some clorox for colors and soak the off-white shirt within that. I have also found that Borax is an awesome soak for clothes as well (I soak my husband's dirty & greasy work shirts within it). Good luck.
