candle spilled over on the carpet roughly 2 weeks ago and i cant get ot out of the hearth rug.

Answers:    Requiem's idea is a start but afterwards I would put brown paper over the wax and put a thaw out iron on it over the stain. Keep doing that untill the brown paper does not hold any more wax

you put ice on it and consequently take a nife or a fuzz comb and scrape the wax sour.
