We rent a duplex. We've been nearby for almost 2 & 1/2 years now. The lease is up again within October. When we moved in the carpet weren't brand new, but they be descent. After only a few weeks of living nearby, & we weren't even home 1/2 the time (due to out of state school), we noticed small brown stains. Nothing was ever spilled. We didn't allow associates to wear shoes in the house for a long time & still don't MOST of the time.

In time those spots get larger. About a year or so into living there, we used a friend's hearth rug cleaner w/carpet cleaning soap. It made a difference, but not enough that it be really worth moving all the furniture.

So, a week after that, I tried it again, w/another friend's shampooer. Hers was a nice one! Tried runner shampoo - not much good. Trying rather bleach & viniger worked best, but still w/in a week, the same stains be back!

Is it contained by the pad? Besides asking the hotelier to change it, I hear she wouldn't, would it be worth it to pay a professional?
Answers:    Let a pro verbs the carpeting. They should have adjectives been pro cleaned past you moved in. That tell me a lot something like your landlady. Nevertheless, a pro will use a pre treatment on the spots, then steam verbs your carpeting. The reoccuring spots may lie reflective within the carpeting or are within the padding. It simply may be black mold spots you're seeing. If, after a pro cleaning, they appear again, have your landlady look at your carpeting & show her the bill from the pro, so she know you had a pro cleaner & still enjoy spots. If it's black mold, the carpeting must all be removed. If she refuse to do so, her butt will be in trouble.
