I bought this old copper (or brass) plate and wash it, now it's adjectives scummy white!!! HELP!
Use hotel keepers friend it have many other uses also but it's great on copper. You can buy it at K-mart,wal-mart places close to that it's about 3$ a can.
Dip it contained by a solution of vinegar with some little bit of table saline added. To try it out first, dip some old darkened pennies within the solution.
It's an elementary school even "magic trick" base on science. Technically, you're not cleaning it but turning the oxides into something that is primarily invisible. (clear.)
To preserve the shininess, once the metal is dried, spray on a coating of clear lacquer, to prevent oxygen getting to it. (That's if you're not using it to cook with... )
